Code Vein 2: Dodge Formae Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Code Vein 2, your dodge is a piece of equipment — not a fixed animation. Dodge Formae are evasion-type Defensive Formae that slot into your Defensive Slot and replace the standard roll with a specific evasive maneuver: a short-range spinning step, a quickstep with cooldown, or a light-variant version with lower Burden requirements.

All 4 confirmed Dodge Formae are documented on the Code Vein 2 interactive maps.

What Are Dodge Formae in Code Vein 2?

Dodge Formae are the evasion category within the three-type Defensive Formae system — alongside Bracers (parry) and Shields (guard).

Equip one in the Defensive Slot and press L1/LB to activate the evasive maneuver in combat. Unlike Shields, which consume Stamina, Dodge Formae consume Ichor on activation — making your Blood Code's Ichor-generation rate and your Jail selection directly relevant to how often you can evade.

Each Dodge Forma also passively increases your base defense rating while equipped, regardless of whether you're actively using it.

Your Burden level affects how mobile your character feels in general movement, but the Dodge Forma controls what happens when you actively press the defensive input — the animation, range, and any special properties all come from the equipped Forma, not your weight class.

Dodge Spin vs Umbral Shift: How Dodge Formae Differ

Dodge Spin and Dodge Spin (Light) both perform a short-range spinning step when activated while holding a direction.

The difference is Burden: the Light variant carries a lower stat requirement and slightly less passive defense, making it the better fit for builds that are running close to their Burden threshold.

The standard Dodge Spin trades heavier Burden for higher innate defense. Neither version guarantees full invincibility for the duration of the animation — timing the evasive input precisely to the attack matters.

Umbral Shift is functionally different. It's a quickstep rather than a spin, covering less lateral distance but activating faster.

The trade-off is a longer cooldown between consecutive uses — you can't chain Umbral Shifts in rapid succession the way you can chain Dodge Spins.

This makes Umbral Shift better suited for reactive evasion against single telegraphed strikes, while Dodge Spin suits builds that need repositioning space mid-combo.

Vanishing Hollow (Light) is the fourth Dodge Forma — a Light-variant evasion Forma sold by Jadwiga's Minion near the Northern Watch Fort on The Continent.

All 4 Dodge Formae Locations in Code Vein 2

  • Dodge Spin (Light) and Vanishing Hollow (Light) are both merchant purchases from Jadwiga's Minions on The Continent — the Dodge Spin (Light) from the Minion next to the blue containers, and Vanishing Hollow (Light) from the Minion near the Northern Watch Fort.

  • Umbral Shift is a chest pickup on the surface of the Seized Substation — in the small alcove near the generators, guarded by a Resurgent Aberration. The chest is on the exterior before entering the substation's underground sections.

  • Dodge Spin (standard) is inside a chest in the Frontier Observation Post courtyard — the late-game dungeon in the Undead Forest region. The water must be drained to fully access this area in the Present timeline.
